Are my old ways gone? Did I make light of perilous wrongs? Only a fool would keep raising hell over things outside his hands. And my heroes fall to ashes, while the only thing that ever works in me carries on. Is there a "new you" still? Do you reach for the phone as a joke? Have you settled down from carrying on? (for those ones you lost from back then, on...) You say the root's got you while you've just held it, too... but my will to change is rotten wood. I don't want to wait to die for fatherhood. /// Sunlight grows, early in the morning. Sometimes I get cold in the arms of our story. I'm just weak, it's all on you now. You are strong, it's all on you now. My relief, it's all on you now. I believe it's all on you now.

Play G 02:42
You were looking for the older days, never in yourself And all unknown to me, you went down for the count You bet on this to bring you something else for a change And feeling close to me isn't all the same I'm not around, you already know Don't lay it down for walking on your toes Talking to me yesterday, not really yourself Hey you pretty thing, maybe you could tell You look the way you did before, a little more inspired Talk straight to me, alright? I'm all ears tonight I'm not a sound, you already know I'll listen to you now, strange as this goes

Moving Day 02:37
Strangely this occasion blew away before I knew it You drive below 35mph, slow, with the trunk half-closed Slow, steady hold on your sofa It's older than you know, with a red stain Moving day The days were sweet with you, Swimming in the words we used to Did you know it would close soon? I'm alone, like when I met you

When the summer is over, I guess we'll get over it. If we were always the same, we'd belong in a portrait frame, and never change. Wherein low-light and dead leaves, just let go of fleeting things. There, back in December, I can remember my friends doing fine.

Hard to Sing 03:26
It ghosts on by, It'll blank my mind. I guess my natural eyes won't hold still. I laugh and cry. Somedays, forget to smile. It's true that throwing away my eye helps me see-- Someone's either there or they're not, giving it all they've got. If all I want is to receive, I'll be hard to please. My friends are such a good help, there to hold me up straight. It's easy to lose yourself in the middle of a cold day, but those things are starting to change. It's hard to say all that we mean. Sometimes the moment sings just fine. No use to complain, or to loathe the rain. We are here all the same, in common grace. We are either there or we're not, giving it all we've got. If all I want is to be seen, no wonder it's hard to sing.

I can see the sun, blister up the low-light A perfect lander halfpipe Let's go make a song You got on your feet, let's go to the movies Lullaby to move me I'm awkward as you know Do you feel anything unreal in this at all? I could feel a tug, something else on your mind Silence in the grapevine I couldn't sing along You left it up to me Assimilation new scene You can try to move me I'm moving as you know Do you feel anything unreal in this at all? I can't stick the landing with you every time
9.
My old bedside table Seventy fables written in ink Take back the memory of all that I owed you Somedays I recall the time you cried Though, you don't this night Survey the splendor the last days of winter Draw me like sunlight draws the rain Shy like a brushfire, an intimate lampside reveals a corner when you're afraid
10.
Even when I'm hanging out, Even when I'm upside down, You're around me. Even in a second guess, Though I may be in distress, You're around me. In all I lack, in all I need, Whether I talk or I sing, You're around me. You never leave me.

about

"The day is yours, and yours also the night;
you established the sun and moon.
It was you who set all the boundaries of the earth,
you made both summer and winter."
Psalm 74:16-17

"None of the songs overstay their welcome—they all feel like beautiful shards of the larger whole that is the album... Summerooms 2: When the Summer is Over is a fantastic record that should not be missed. I want to spend my time listening to this record, not describing it. Josh Jackson is not just one of my favorite songwriters–he’s quickly becoming one of the best young songwriters in the country."
